Fluoride poisons your city waterDouglass Gaking Visit our blog for full coverage of this and other issues, featuring RSS. A recent report by Scientific American suggests that "over-consumption of fluoride can raise the risks of disorders affecting teeth, bones, the brain and the thyroid gland." They report that 60% of America's tap water has the poison purposely added, including 46 of America's 50 biggest cities. According to the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the City of Indianapolis "adjusts the natural fluoride concentration upward to the optimal level for the prevention of dental caries (cavities)." That optimum level is 1.00 mg of fluoride per liter of water. Reuters reports that
They also report that "Fluoride in foods, beverages, medicines and dental products can result in fluoride over-consumption, visible in young children as dental fluorosis -- white spotted, yellow, brown and/or pitted teeth. We can't normally see fluoride's effects to the rest of the body." A Chinese study associated high fluoride exposure with lower IQ. It can also increase the risk of bone fracture, especially for the elderly and diabetics. We already get more than enough fluoride from our toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, and visits to the dentist. That already may be too much. It is absolutely ridiculous for the city add fluoride to the tap water. I filter the chlorine and other unwanted chemicals from my drinking water, but nearly all water filters cannot filter fluoride. A fluoride filter must be specially ordered and is highly expensive. The residents of Indianapolis and 45 other major cities have no choice but to consume this poison every day as they bathe, cook, eat and drink. Think about how much tap water you actually consume. Every cup of coffee, tea, or mixed juices. Every glass of water, whether or not you have a filter in your refrigerator or faucet. Every serving of noodles, rice, potatoes or vegetables you boil on your stove. We most certainly absorb a lot of fluoride when we add all that to our regular mouth hygiene. Over 1200 professionals are urging the U.S. Congress to conduct Congressional hearings on the subject and to cease water fluoridation. I personally have contacted the Indianapolis Mayor, City Council, IndyStar newspaper, and the WishTV I-Team.
